# About Me

Hello and welcome to my portfolio! My name is Steph (she/they), and I'm a UX researcher with a passion for using technology to create more equitable systems. As the child of immigrant parents, I've witnessed firsthand how systemic barriers can prevent individuals and communities from reaching their full potential. It's this experience that inspired me to pursue a career in UX research, where I can use my skills to help design systems that serve humans in the diverse ways that we exist.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2019, where I conducted research on how to bring STEM education to children in underserved communities. This work inspired me to pursue a Master's degree in Human Factors and Ergonomics, where I focused on understanding how and why sex workers use cyber hygiene. My research in this area culminated in a project that was both challenging and rewarding, and further solidified my passion for using technology to create a more equitable world.

Since graduating with my Master's degree in 2022, I've been gaining industry experience working at Google. During my time there, I led Rapid Research efforts for Local Search (e.g. searching up "barbers near me") and Fuchsia, Google's open source operating system. Through these projects, I've honed my skills in UX research, and I'm excited to continue working on projects that make a positive impact on people's lives.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio, and I look forward to connecting with you.

# When I'm Not at Work

In my personal time, I enjoy a variety of hobbies and interests. You can often find me playing cozy games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or reading a good book with some hot jasmine green tea (shout out to Uncle Iroh!). I also love spending time with my furbabies, Yue (pronounced like UA) and Zym (pronounced like Zim), who are the bane of my existence but also the loves of my life.
